We are arguing about everything in the Balkans, but our most appealing “war” is cuisine. Its victim is also the locusts – sinful delicious donuts for which Greeks and Turks still fight. We will not take sides in the dispute. We’ll just share the easy donut recipe that combines taste and incredible flavor. If you want to call them somehow, we will come up with the name “Loukoumades the favorite donuts on the Balkans”!
2 teaspoons of flour
4 tablespoons, melted butter
12 tablespoons of fresh milk
3 teaspoons baking powder
4 tablespoons of sugar
oil – for the frying of the donuts
honey – for syrup (which can also be replaced with sugar)
powdered sugar and cinnamon – for sprinkling
Method of preparation:
On the flour sprinkle the baking powder and the sugar. Add butter, milk, eggs. With your hands, mix as homogeneous as possible.
Heat a large amount of oil in a deep pan.With a pre-greased teaspoon, grasp the dough, rub it into the fat. The ready donuts look good bulging and “swim” on top of the oil.
Do not kick them with a fork, but take them out with a grid. Putting them drained on a kitchen or baking paper.
When luke warmed, make a hot honey syrup and pour it with it. Finally sprinkle them with crushed walnuts, powdered sugar and cinnamon.
