Lahmajun – the Balkan version of the popular pizza

If Italians have a pizza, they will long share with the Balkans their alternative version. Lahmajun differs from the chicken topped with chili peppers and veal.

About the dough:

5 cups of extra white flour
1 ½ cup of milk (or water, but if you use milk, the bark will get a beautiful golden color)
¼ cup of oil
3 tablespoons of salt
1 tablespoon of sugar
10 g yeast

For the beef mix:

450 g of minced beef
1 red pepper
½ green pepper
2 tomatoes
1 big onion
1 tablespoon of tomato paste
1 ½ tsp. Cumin
1 ½ tsp. Pepper
3 tsp. Salt
a bunch of chopped parsley
⅕ a cup of olive oil


To prepare the bark, place the ingredients in a bowl and mix. Mix for 5 minutes, then allow to stand for 2 hours.
Place peppers, tomatoes, onions and parsley in a blender. Once you get the same mixture, add it to the meat along with tomato paste and spices and mix well.
From the dough you left, make balls that are slightly larger than the ping pong ball. Sprinkle a little flour and roll the dough into very thin peel.
Apply the mixture with the spoon, then bake 5 to 10 minutes in a preheated oven at 200 degrees. When lahmajun is baked, sprinkle some lemon juice, add lettuce if you want to be able to bend it on a roll and enjoy the mix of tastes.
